We are inch and closer to Election Day 2020. The Iowa caucus is first, then in New Hampshire primary, a whole bunch after that, right around the corner.

And our expert panel waiting patiently to discuss our topic this week, national security when it comes to the campaign.

But first, Fox News Radio is Jared Halpern

has been following the candidates on the campaign trail and gives us an update.

The field of Democrats includes candidates who had votes on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan

and veterans who served in those conflicts. What we know is that we cannot go on with these

endless wars. South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg served in the Navy reserves and deployed to Afghanistan in 2014.

In this month's PBS News Hour and Politico debate, he argued for smaller footprints for special operations and intelligence.

The exact same kind of thing, by the way, that we actually had in Syria holding

the line before the president yanked it out, leading to the road to chaos. But says Congress

should be voting more often on combat commitments. In previous debates, Buttigieg has taken

issue with Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, an officer in the Hawaii Army National Guard who deployed to Iraq.

In Operation, she says, has only promulgated terrorism.

She's also criticized U.S. involvement in Syria.

Former Vice President Joe Biden spent time in the PBS News Hour and Politico debate defending his position on Afghanistan

before and during his time in the White House.
