Hello everyone and welcome to police off the cuff, real crime stories.

I'm your host, retired NYPD sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year veteran of the NYPD.

A lot of happenings with this case. And of course, we're referring to the case of the homicide

on 54th Street in Midtown of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

And I just wanna say a few things.

There's a lot of vitriol been going,

especially in the true crime community.

You know, it's never a good thing when someone gets murdered.

But because I think in this country,

the hatred towards the

health care field, people are actually applauding this. And I, look, I understand the way

health care is run in this country is not fair. It's absolutely not fair. And people like myself, people like Professor Mike and people

like Phil Grimaldi, we've been taken care of. We're retired. We get healthcare for the rest of

our life from the NYPD. And then of course, once you get of age, you go on Medicare.

So I understand because I even see my young son who's recently

married. He pays over $1,000 a month for his wife. And that's from a company-based health care

program. That's horrible, you know. So I understand it, but the vitriol wishing and applauding that this

man who had two young boys in high school and a wife and a family and people that loved

them, I just, I just don't agree with that. And you can, you're, you're free to do and say as you please, but I don't think it's right.

So the big story yesterday, of course, was this picture on the screen right here.

They found the backpack.

The backpack that we've seen in so many different pictures of the perpetrator going through Midtown
