Today's guest is a good friend of mine and a long time Jiu-Jitsu teammate Nate Shirk.

Nate was always a really tough guy in the training room.

He didn't give an inch and he always pushed me through my main journey.

But my favorite thing about him was that he was such an introspective and worried person.

We always had great post-training chats on the mats.

Several years ago Nate moved back to San Francisco and he found a real new motivation.

Last year he lost close to 50 pounds.

He won both the US Nationals and the Chicago Open-Up Roundball.

And after two plus decades in combat sports, over a decade of hard Jiu-Jitsu training,

there was so awesome to be there and to see Nate earn his Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt on the podium.

A few weeks ago Nate dropped another weight class and he competed at the Masters World

at Black Belt, so I'm really looking forward to catching up and hearing about his motivation

for such a drastic lifestyle change, as well as hearing his thoughts on the world today

because he always has such interesting viewpoints.
