Well, after, gee, how many years has it been since 1950? This is like 72 years since 1950.

After 72 years, we finally have a solution to the Fermi paradox. And I'm sure Bill is equated.

Oh, my goodness, what is the noise that just happened? I think that there is some sort of alien

communication going on in my

studio right here. We have something called the Fermi Paradox, which basically says that it's

inexplicable why there's such a high probability of extraterrestrial civilizations and yet

such low evidence that any such things exist.

I have the answer to that.

Well, that's good because you are ahead of NASA because NASA just paid for a study that was

done by some folks at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the California Institute of Technology

and then a university in Poland and even a high school student was involved,

had authorship of this study. And the study basically was asking this question and coming up

with a novel answer. And I want to give you the title of the study. We may post a link to it in

the comments below. But the study is called Avoiding the Great Filter, Extr extraterrestrial life and humanity's future in the universe.

The upshot of this paper is that the reason why the Fermi paradox exists with such a high probability of extraterrestrial intelligent life and such a low actual evidence that any such thing exists,

despite that the search for extraterrestrial intelligence running for the last 60-some years,

is basically because other civilizations have already off themselves.

They have already extincted themselves.

And the reason they extincted themselves is because it almost goes hand in glove that

the race for advanced technology leads to the devastating use of that technology that

destroys your civilization.
