Let's start with Rick Rick start me back over again for anybody that just tuned it

All right. I was a contractor video engineer in building 44 I was on duty. My lead tech and I were running broadcast grade video

recorders in case we had to do any analysis on something falling off the vehicle during the launch, things like that.

And I remember when that happened.

There was a lot of renewed interest.

We had a whole bunch of people in my lab because we were running about eight different recorders, different formats.

I'm sure you know what you, one inch and eumatic and VHS all that are.

And so, when it happened, I just,

Lord, please don't let that be what it looks like,

but it was, and it took me a long time to get over it.

So the cameras that you were running were cameras that were attached to the shuttle? No sir they were the ground cameras that like everybody watched on the news okay but we did have

we did have chase planes we had engineering views which came down the line later just to us they weren't they weren't

released to the media normally because the media didn't meet them they were know, like you're looking at a connector, come off of a vehicle like it's supposed to during T-minus zero.

Nobody cared about that. No, you know, the public wouldn't be interested in watching that.

I was like a crystal growth on orbit.

Nobody wanted to see that.

They wanted to spectacular stuff.

Oh, by the way, I'm sure you mentioned earlier.

Yesterday was the 38th anniversary of Challenger.

Yeah, that's what, that's what brought it all up.

That's fascinating.
