Summary

This is a repeat of last week, I forgot to attach the audio and then was out of town all week. Sorry for the delay of the audio podcast. The subject of this episode is Narcos, the story of the Cali Cartel. Ron Chepesiuk hosts the Crime Beat Radio show on the Artists First network. Just click on the highlighted show tile and be entertained. Ron Chepesiuk is a former college professor who got into true crime as a young man and has become one of the foremost experts and internationally known author, speaker and investigative reporter on organized crime. in this show Aaron and I talked with him about Frank Matthews, “Black Caesar”, the first well known drug kingpin who disappeared with about 20 million dollars in 1973. Ron tells how Frank Matthews made the one of the first international connections with South American drug dealers and organized drug markets all over the United States in the 1970s. Ron later discusses how he was in Columbia covering the narcotics problem when he met a Colombian woman and married her. this commenced a life long study of Columbia, narco-traffickers and the Colombian government. When he first started, he was warned to not go outside of Bogota and today, Ron reports that the former drug capitol of Medellin is now a preferred place for North Americans to visit and even live out their retirement. The listener learns about the inside workings of the Cali Cartel and how they quietly became the most successful drug organization after Pablo Escobar was killed. Ron tells of his first hand experiences and stories about the same events depicted in the recently released Netflix series Narcos, Season Three.   Ron operates Strategic Media Books, LLC, www.strategicmediabooks.com, an  independent  U.S.  publisher  of  original  paperback  and  e-book  editions  that aims  to  bring  its  outstanding  publishing  program  to  the  widest  possible  audience.  Founded   in   2010,   Strategic   Media   Books  publishes   nonfiction   that   includes   true   crime,   biography/memoir,   business,   history/current   affairs,   and   lifestyle,   as   well   as  cutting-edge   and   inspirational   fiction.   Strategic   Media   Books   also   publishes   a   book   series   titled   “Gangsta   Chronicles.”  This   series   focuses   on   true   and   gritty   stories   from   the   street   and   the   world   of   crime.   Strategic   Media   Books’   authors  have received numerous literary honors and awards, taking many of the industry’s top prizes.
