So let's get into it.

I have been friends with my closest friend for 15 years.

The older we get, the more self-absorbed she becomes,

the more and the more unwilling she is to admit fault or wrongdoing.

Yet she is an empath.

Well first, let's try to define what an empath is. This is a

non-clinical construct meaning that it is not discussed in the literature at all as

far as I can tell, only something that is

discussed online. And just because it's discussed on a website called

like Psychology Today or something does not mean that it's a legit psychological construct. Now that doesn't mean that it's

not a useful construct because there are non-clinical constructs that can be useful but

usually what happens in psychology is that if in the common culture

there is a term that's being used. Eventually clinicians will start doing

research on it, they'll start writing dissertations about it,

and it'll become a clinical construct.
