I was just doing some reading about one of the most fascinating episodes in recent Islamic history.

As you know, I love history.

And this was Napoleon's failed attempt to conquer Egypt.

And actually, this week is the anniversary of that invasion, around 225 years ago in 1798, this very week is the anniversary of that invasion around 225 years ago in 1798.

This very week, the end of June, is when Napoleon landed in Egypt.

And he attempted to conquer Egypt, and he remained in Egypt for two and a half years.

And much can be said today, I just want to give some snippets anecdotes that are relevant

to us today because one of our problems is we don't study history so don't wait we don't

learn from history what happened back then you can literally copy and paste and replicate

in every scenario we're seeing right now. And so today I

wanted to give random. This isn't a detailed history of Napoleon's interaction. That's going to

take many lectures. This is just random facts that I found very interesting that I can find

exact relevant parallels between what happened 225 years ago between what is happening now and Napoleon's invasion of Egypt in the summer of 1798.

It was the first attempt of the West to directly colonize the East. Before Napoleon, this direct colonization was not

there. The British indirectly were trying to get into India via trade, via whatnot. There wasn't

an actual all-out invasion in the 1700s. No British Navy invaded India, you know,

at that point in time. it's going to happen later

on not at this stage the first blatant colonization was Napoleon what are

some of the parallels some of the similarities first and foremost one of the

things that the Muslim Ummah learned very quickly was the fact that the technologies of the two were very different.

This is now the first awakening of the Muslims that Europe has gone further than us.
