Summary

Kirtland Day 2 involved touring the CoC owned Kirtland Temple as well as the Isaac Morley farm. The day ended with my recounting of a deep Mormon history discussion with Karl Anderson, known locally as Mr. Kirtland. He didn't like the entheogen theory, but the exchange was incredibly respectful and I'm happy to call him a friend.

Happy April Fool's, everybody, 2017.

0:10.5

Wow, a lot happened today.

0:13.8

So we began the day by going to the Isaac Morley Farm, and it is a complete recreation.

0:24.2

So the Morley farm, it's contended whether or not the Morley farm, as it is a church

0:31.4

historic site, actually exists on the Morley plot, and there's no way really to know that the missionaries who I've been

0:41.3

kind of traveling around here with contend that the farm is actually one plot west of

0:50.3

where it actually is sits where the historic site sits but the church owns what they have as today, their Morley farm, historic site.

1:02.5

And that's, it was interesting to go there.

1:05.5

And there's not really anything there other than just a small home where some missionaries live and this little

1:13.3

like a pylon I guess type of thing where you can go and sit under a sheltered area on some

1:23.1

benches and they can tell you the stories but it's not open during time of year. And it was really nice that the missionaries that were working the Isaac Morley Farm were nice

1:33.9

enough to take a special occasion and meet with us this morning.

1:37.1

So we all went there and met with the two elderly missionaries there.

1:42.0

And they told us all of the miraculous stories about the Isaac Morley farm.

1:47.8

And including the story of Mary Elizabeth Rollins, who, okay, I guess I'll just kind of tell the

1:57.9

story.

1:58.1

So Isaac Morley was somebody, a member of Sydney Rigden's congregation.

2:04.9

And he was also the owner of the Morley Farm, where there were various people living on these hastily thrown up little log cabins, essentially.

2:15.2

The Whitmer family, when they moved from Fayette to

2:18.7

Curtland area, they began living there. I believe the Smith family lived there

2:24.2

for a short time Joseph Smith and Emma lived there as well as the bigger Smith family.
