Is consciousness a binary thing, or is it a kind of continuum with different "levels"? Do animals experience a degree of consciousness and how can it be inferred or measured? But what does this mean? You and I are aware that we exist. If we think about it for a second,

we may realize that we have a physical body

that is placed inside an environment.

ourselves, our beings,

are not limited to this physical reality because we can distance ourselves from it.

There is a duality, or at least a perceived one.

Between our physical reality and our minds, it seems our minds need a body to exist.

They are anchored to it.

But our thoughts can wander.

They can look at the past, look at the future,
