My partner spent the night at a hotel with her ex-boyfriend and then lied to me about it when I questioned her.

And right now I am completely devastated by this information.

And at this point I seriously don't know what to do.

and this post is just mostly me trying to get things straight in my head.

This just happened today and it's totally caught me off guard.

We've been together for nine years and I've got two adult children as well as my partner's two children from her previous marriage who live with us 100% of the time.

Their father isn't present in their lives and probably never will be.

They call me dad and consider me their father and I love them just as much as if they were my own kids.

Having been through a messy separation, which affected my relationship with my biological kids

having these two step kids was completely unexpected and has been one of the best things

that ever happened to me their mother and I both came from deeply flawed relationships and we just

clicked when we met and I can honestly say that it's been the most perfect relationship and

until now I literally could not think of anything about it that wasn't perfect.

Yes, we've had our ups and downs and trials and tribulations,

but we have always deeply valued our relationship and approached it with complete honesty,

as well as openness and a lack of judgment.

We're 100% committed to each other and both of us have never expressed a desire to step outside of our

relationship, but we always agreed that if we ever did, we would discuss it with each other first.

We both had to fight together to make our relationship happen because of circumstances at the time that aren't really relevant to this.
