Summary

In this episode, Mina starts off by talking about NYC party etiquette, but then delves into the topic of MOVIES – a topic she's been barred from speaking about... until now. Let's discuss Priscilla (2023), how it compares to Elvis (2022), and most importantly... Jacob Elordi vs. Austin Butler's portrayals. Also: tangents on Alfred Hitchcock, Jacob Elordi/Kissing Booth drama, David Fincher's The Killer (2023), and the importance of Letterboxd reviews (they are NOT annoying!!)

Hello, hello, welcome to highbrow. How is everyone doing today?

0:20.5

Some things that I've been up to. The other day I went to the

0:24.8

Sturbridge show, which if you don't know what that is, it's a vintage show. I believe that this was

0:30.5

the first time it's come to New York City. Usually it's in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, hence the

0:35.3

name. But that was really fun.

0:38.3

I love going to vintage shows.

0:41.3

I don't know if you know this about me.

0:43.3

I feel like if you follow me on Instagram, you know, but that's where I get all my gems,

0:46.3

like my actual like vintage gems.

0:50.3

Because I'd say I would shop around throughout the year, but it's at these shows where they

0:56.3

have all these like curators who come in and they have like their really old stuff like

1:00.9

antiques, 1910s, 1920s, 1930s, um clothing but also like accessories, jewelry, sometimes even

1:10.5

just like random objects, things that I would not be able to find on my own personally.

1:15.6

Or even if I did know where to find them, I just like wouldn't personally have the time or energy to go through these like, you know, warehouses and stuff like that.

1:26.6

But I think honestly most of the sellers that I've talked to,

1:29.3

they get most of their stuff from other vintage sellers.

1:33.3

So it is kind of like, it's kind of interesting because they'll like sell each other

1:38.3

their stock and then, you know, it kind of goes back and forth sometimes,

1:42.3

which is funny if you follow everyone in the circle. But then also, you know, it kind of goes back and forth sometimes, which is funny if you follow

1:44.2

everyone in the circle.

1:46.1

But then also, the more established you are, you'll get people like calling in to be like,

1:52.2

hey, my grandmother died.
