Cindy, welcome to the program. Hi, Dr. Laura. Thank you for taking my call. You're welcome. What can I help you with?

So my husband decided to end the marriage after 25 years he left to go to another country.

And when he was planning on the leaving and talking talking to you about his plans, what did he say was motivating his actions?

He wanted to start a business a bit less for us together in a new country, but we had some kids that were still living at home.

So the plan was for me to be at home for over the year and get the house ready to either to rent and to sell in this summer, which is now July, August.

I would be moving over there finding a job and being with him there. That was the plan.

So initially he did not leave you. You know how to plan. He went to exactly we had a plan, at least I thought it was a plan.

Okay, and in the interim, what has occurred in your conversations and visits with each other? What has occurred?

Sure, so we would go there. He'd come back to Canada to be with us, do with the kids.

And everything was fine up until about three, four weeks ago where out of nowhere, he decided that he wants to end the marriage.

And I must add to this that we've met for about 25 years and every three or four years he wanted to end the marriage.

I tried to keep it together for the sake of the kids. Now we are 25 years later, and again, he's been around this statement that he wants to end the marriage.

And how old are the kids?

So I just did 18, 21, 23.

Okay, so they're not minors anymore.

No, and every three years. Every three years or so, what would he tell you is do you want to end the marriage?

Really? Nothing. I want to end the marriage. I want to help. There's not working for me. I never got an answer. I had conditions of things, but he never...

Then why did he stay?

What was his explanation for not leaving permanently then?

I guess I tried to keep it together. I tried using a strategy, being nice doing all the things and eventually he came around and he would stay and everything would be good.

And then that three or four years later it would happen again.
