We are in the middle of a series that we've called Uncommon Sense.

And in this series, we've been taking a look at our mindset, our habits, our relationship

when it comes to money.

And on week one, in week one, Pastor Annie talked about the reality that all of us have

a pretty unique relationship with money, largely based on our upbringing, some of our

current realities, and every single one of us has a unique relationship to money.

And because of that, this series is most likely hitting one of us has a unique relationship to money and because of that

this series is most likely hitting all of us in some pretty unique ways. I come from a family

with a unique relationship with money and by unique I mean that we did not have any. We had no

money. I came from a very loving, amazing family. My parents

loved each other. My parents loved Jesus. My parents loved their kids. We just lived well below the poverty line.

And so the concept of money growing up was a different one for me.

And because of that, the series has been hitting me,

maybe a little bit differently than it's been hitting you.

It's hitting all of us kind of uniquely.

I can remember growing up, my family would

pretty regularly move from apartment to apartment to the guest bedroom of a generous family in the church

to a hotel back to an apartment as my mom and dad just wrestled through how to how to figure this

out, how to navigate life. I remember when I was in junior high, my gifts for birthday and Christmas.

Like every kid, I know my parents would give us birthday gifts and Christmas gifts.

They would come wrapped up and we would open them up.
