0:14.1	Hi, Dr. Laura. Thank you so much for taking my call today. Thank you.
0:18.3	I have a situation with my mother. I'm 41 years old. We've had a very difficult relationship my entire life and I recently have had a conflict with her that I have not had in quite some time where she's asked me to participate in a family activity that I'm not comfortable with.
0:39.3	And I'm not comfortable with this activity because because it's drama when we have a large group of our family together and the dynamic of our family doesn't mesh well.
0:51.3	What is that you want to participate in? She would like a family vacation with all of her adult children to go to Ireland next year.
1:02.3	And I am the only one who doesn't wish to go or not. Yes, I'm the only one.
1:10.3	And you don't want to go because what normally happens is what specifically?
1:15.3	Our family gets into arguments. We're very different personalities.
1:22.3	And in the past where it has happened, it's never gone well. There ends up being a fight. My sister leaves the vacation early. There's drama with my brother. It's just never proven to be an enjoyable experience.
1:35.3	Well, and I've explained to her and I, okay, ma, ma, ma, ma. She doesn't have to agree with you for you not to go.
1:46.3	She's not ever gone to agree with you. There is no problem. There's only your fear. Right.

2:13.3	That it's my own emotions that's controlling my decisions.
2:19.3	No, you're afraid of what's going to happen and your mother is going to be mad. The sister is going to be mad. Whoever's everybody's going to talk about you bad.
2:28.3	Yeah, well, you should have given that up in grammar school.
2:34.3	Of course, they're going to talk bad about you. So what?
2:38.3	Yeah.
2:39.3	That doesn't give you can agree. She, she, she didn't validate my feelings at all.
2:47.3	We have this conversation.
2:48.3	Of course not because she disagrees. Hey, honey, the world does not validate your feelings.
