My father was German and came to the UK on kind of transport just before the start of the Second World War.

This was when Jewish families like mine sent their children away to escape the terror of Nazi Germany,

a time when fascist supporters targeted Jewish people and others.

Millions would be murdered in concentration camps,

like many in my family.

Thanks to the kind of transports, my father survived.
