Summary

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle...”

Behind every perfect photo is a story you don’t see. (photo linked below)

This week, Danielle is sharing the real story behind a polished interview with Chase Jarvis—a “successful” professional moment that, behind the scenes, was complete with anxiety medication, heartbreak, mould poisoning and exhaustion.

This is the truth about what it looks like to show up when you’re falling apart.

And while it’s easy to be judgmental of others, what everyone really needs is the compassion impulse—the assumption that everyone is going through something and filtering it in their own way.

In this episode:

  • The real story behind a picture-perfect interview moment
  • Why “don’t believe what everyone’s filtered life looks like” goes deeper than social media
  • The energy cost of judging others’ highlight reels
  • How to activate your compassion impulse instead of criticism
  • Pro tip: when to mute or unfollow accounts that trigger judgment

slender, I'm looking fucking great. Now let's begin this story. Are you familiar with the

hard battle. There's so much to say about this photo of Chase interviewing me. Good Hair Day because

Chase is a total pro and he has a stylist and a proper green room and amazing swag for all

of his guests on his show. I was at my thinnest at this time in my life because I'd been on this

starvation diet. It was prep for a new guy that I was dating. And I also was in the middle of a major bout with mold poisoning and my gut and my sinuses were whacked.

But I hadn't yet made the connection between disrupted gut and chronic sinus infections because we hadn't found the mold yet.

I was wearing my glasses, which I only

wear my glasses when I'm working in front of a computer. Otherwise, I can see. But this day,

I was wearing my glasses because my eyes were swollen from crying because new guy was not good

for me. And I knew it. And I wasn't going to let sooner turn into later

with a breakup so I ended it in one phone call and it was a big deal it wasn't a light thing

because I thought I was going to marry a new guy.

Also on the same day, I was stoned on Sinutab and Advil.

I was in a constant state of prayer as I was crying,

that my vocal cords were going to hold out. And more disturbingly, I guess, that I wouldn't have a panic attack while we were recording

the interview.
