There's a message that culture won't stop preaching right now, and that is to love yourself

shamelessly and unapologetically.

Just love yourself.

Okay.

And then on the other hand, if you've been in church for any amount of time, you've probably

heard the opposite.

Die to yourself.

So which one is it? Because one side is telling you to prioritize yourself and

protect your peace and cut people off, do what feels right, find what feels good, all the things.

And then the other side is over here like, you're nothing, you're worthless. You're just a

filthy, rotten sinner that God's saved by grace and all the things and somehow both of these

mindsets within their respective spheres are being called godly. But can I just present you that both

sides totally miss it because one of them leads to a worship of self, but the other one leads to self-rejection.

And neither of those postures actually look like Jesus or reflect what he taught.

So with that being said, I want to talk about something that I think, what I've observed

at least, is that a lot of Christians

completely avoid or completely misunderstand. And that is this idea of self-love. What exactly

is it? Is it biblical to love yourself? Because for some of you, I know this from experience,

okay, that the second you even hear that phrase, you're like, nope, that's new age, that's pride, that's deception.

And honestly, like, I do get that. I understand. Especially if you have come out of that world like I did, you know, you've seen firsthand how twisted the concept of self-love can become where everything just revolves around you and orbits around you
