It was the 3rd of August in 1892 in the town of Fall River in Massachusetts.

The worker at the pharmacy was making a mental note of what had just happened.

A woman had approached him attempting to purchase a deadly poison known as Prussic Acid.

He, of course, denied her request.

But that mental note turned out to be more important than he might have assumed.

And had he provided it, our story today might have had a completely different outcome.

Perhaps the use of an axe to violently murder two members of a household would not have been necessary.

An axe was used to smash through the skulls and completely disfigure the heads of Andrew and

Abby Borden.

But finding out who was responsible for such violent deaths turned out to be much more difficult

than expected.

Still, one prime suspect remains for this mystery.

Was this person falsely accused?

And how do we explain the disembodied laughter, chairs rocking on their own, photos of ghosts,

the footsteps that remain?
