My name's John, and I'm an alcoholic.

I'd like to start off my share tonight by saying a massive thank you to my sponsor

Wayne, but not only sponsor me for the past few years and the guide until he's given me

and for being there when I've needed him, but also for asking me to share tonight at the

27th birthday of my home group, the Rotary recovery meeting of alcoholics anonymous, and

this meeting has given me so much, it really, really, really has, you know, when I walked

in through those doors, right there, back in 2010, I was in a mess, I really, really

was.

My life was, it was ruined, it really was through alcoholism, my life was completely ruined,

I walked in through those doors, and I was, I'd just come out of a treatment centre,

I was in a supported housing project, I was classed as homeless, I wasn't able to see

my kids, I was going through a divorce, you know, I had worked for years, and I was

you know, I'd been in an out of institutions over and over and over and over again, you

know, my life was, was, was completely like, it's rock bottom, it really, really, really

was, and I was just desperate, you know, I was really, really desperate not to pick up

another drink, not only that inside, inside I was spiritually bankrupt, I was ruined,

I really, really was, you know, I had no confidence, I had no self belief, you know, I couldn't
