as a struggling Vladimir Putin is now threatening a nuclear confrontation.

against Donald Trump and his family, alleging wide-scale fraud at the Trump Organization. All of it,

less than seven weeks before Election Day. And the latest move by the Fed to fight soaring inflation,

the central bank raises interest rates for the fifth time this year, three quarters of a point.

The Fed chair, Jay Powell, tells reporters he's not sure if a significant recession can be avoided to stop inflation.

Where earlier today here, President Biden was confronting Vladimir Putin's drastic new actions and harsh new rhetoric as Ukraine continues to regain territory in its counteroffensive and Russia becomes more desperate in its

efforts not to lose this war. And as addressed to world leaders gathered at the UN General Assembly

earlier today, the president accused Russia of violating the body's core principles, and he criticized Putin, who hours earlier once again,

saber-rattled about nukes.

Just today, President Putin has made overt nuclear threats against Europe

and a reckless disregard for the responsibilities of the non-proliferation

regime.

Now, Russia is calling up more soldiers to join the fight, and the Kremlin is organizing a sham

referendum to try to annex parts of Ukraine an extremely significant

violation of the U.N. Charter. This world should see these outrageous acts for what they are.

The president also acknowledged the devastating toll the war has already had on Ukraine.
