take to the streets in dozens of cities nationwide, demanding action now from lawmakers and

from the present, the latest on the ruling and the future of abortion rights in just a moment.

And we begin today with the top story in American politics,

the escalating fallout from the bombshell Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

Across the country, demonstrators took to the streets over the weekend as a number of states immediately began rolling back access to abortions in the wake of that ruling. Today,

Mississippi's Attorney General formally certified that state's trigger law, banning the procedure

beginning in 10 days. That leaves the state's 15-week ban in effect for that limited period of time.

Right now, new bans or restrictions on abortion are in effect in roughly a dozen states.

Meanwhile, Democratic lawmakers have begun ramping up pressure on President Biden.

They're urging him to take every action that he can to blunt the impact of the ruling,

even as the White House's options are limited.

More than 30 Senate Democrats have now signed onto a letter demanding the White House take,

quote, bold action that is roughly two-thirds of the party's caucus.

In this letter, they write, quote,
