Thank you. and stop the quote, charade. Happy Wednesday and welcome to meet the press now. I'm Chuck Todd here in Washington, where the White House announced today, it will be sending a full battalion of American-made

tanks to join the fight in Ukraine. It's a move which appears to have given Germany the military

and political cover. It was seeking to send its own tanks across Europe to the region as well.

The result, the U.S. is again sending Ukraine military hardware previously suggested it wouldn't because they feared it would be escalatory.

And Zelensky is again receiving a much-needed boost in NATO firepower as the war with Russia

nears the one-year mark.

For its part, Russia is denouncing the move as they have with every attempt to help Ukraine

as, quote, extremely dangerous escalation.

But again, it's rhetoric they've used in the past.

President Biden pushed back on those claims, however, today insisting that these were not

offensive weapons, but instead were designed to help Ukraine defend its sovereignty against the

unprovoked Russian invasion. With spring approaching Ukrainian forces are working to defend the territory they hold

and preparing for additional counter offenses.

To liberate their land, they need to be able to counter Russia's evolving tactics and strategy

on the battlefield in the very near term.
