The jobs report for January surprised everyone. The smart set on Wall Street, the big bankers

around the world expecting a Federal Reserve to key on the number. Federal Reserve was surprised.

The economists on TV were surprised. Everyone was surprised. As far as I know, the man in

the moon was surprised. So I welcome Liz Peak, a columnist at the Hill, a columnist at Fox

News, much on Fox Business. Not because Liz wasn't surprised, but because we're enjoying

how it is that in a room of economists, how when they meet their each other's eyes, they

don't break out laughing because it is the dismal science just because now and again,

Peak gets it right. And we load up a lot of expectations. Liz, 500,000 plus revising the

earlier reports of December and November with plus 71, making the job's growth a complete

quandary because we're supposed to be on the eve of if not already in a recession. The

metaphors that have been used over these last months, the Federal Reserve, Mr. Powell,

and say soft landing, the expectation on Wall Street is a hard landing. Now a new one,
