I welcome Verenique to Regi of the Mercata Center.

Verenique, I've learned from your colleague John Cochran to identify this is the moment

that the American economy was doomed, murdered to high inflation, so-called sticky inflation that came out of

nowhere according to the Federal Reserve but was right there for them to watch.

And then also that we have the matter of its tax

season so we need to talk about taxes and raising taxes forever to deal with a

deficit of 1.6 trillion dollars.

All these things look to be in the same basket.

It's tax season.

Can taxes solve any of this?

Good evening, John. John well tax can solve some of it but not without

enormous cost and above and beyond the cost to taxpayers who have to give up a lot of their hard-heard income.

It's going to slow the economy quite dramatically and then in turn possibly reduce the ability

to tax that the government has.

But it's certain that it can't taxes cannot solve the enormity of the problem we have in front of us.
