It seems like a lot of things are being done in the college landscape in general when it comes to sports that

allegedly are in our best interest. They are there to serve us the fan. The data says. That's

what the fan wants. Hey, have you noticed that it seems like everyone you talk to feels differently

than what the data suggests? I don't know. It could just be a wild anecdotal theory of mind, but we'll dive into it. This is the Late Kick Extra podcast, Tuesday, April 7th, the year of our Lord of 2024. It's April 9th. It's not April 7th. My sevens look like nines. And honestly, I'm not going to tell them to stop recording. So we'll just roll with it. This is the Late Kick Extra, which is just mailbag, and we haven't done one in a few weeks because we've been on the road, and we're going to be on the road again next week, and road is good because that means we're meeting with head coaches, and we're providing long-form sit-down conversations with them and gaining a lot. And guys, I mean a lot of intel behind the scenes that ultimately betters the show. But in the

meantime, I did want to tell you, I'm glad to be back. We're briefly in Nashville. We're

recording this in Nashville. And we have got a mailbag that probably would weigh about 30 pounds

if emails and tweets and DMs actually weighed something. So I want to dive in because I know every one of

you have at least noticed, if not outright, have a very strong opinion about the first question.

Here we go. Garrett from Easley, South Carolina, said, what do us fans have to do to stop having

national title games played on Monday nights? This is a basketball thing. This is a college football thing.

No one likes it. Have you ever? Guys, I mean ever met anyone who likes this, who likes national

title games being played on Monday nights. Forget about basketball for a second. Because basketball,

at least that happens on week nights. No college football games happen on Monday night.

And then all of a sudden this group of folks wearing $2,000 suit says,

wait a second, we got data.

We're here with data.

We talked with the consultants who could not tell you UNLV's mascot to save their life,

but they have consulted us and they have told us that Monday night

that's the night for college football's national championship game. Well, I would counter with this.

No, it's not. No, it's not. Now, there are several things that go into this, as we all know. The first

question was, what can you do as a fan? Really, all you can do is something you're not going to do. And that's stop watching. And I'm not going to do it either. I'm not going to threaten to stop watching. This is one of those grin and Barrett sort of situations for the time being, because I don't think it's moving off Monday night for the time being, because I don't think people who really have the best interest of the spirit of college football in their mind when they make these decisions are the ones making the decisions.
