The New Beverly Cinema presents the Pure Cinema podcast. My name's Brian Sauer. I am joined, as always, by the wonderful Edward Kane. Mr. Kane. What are we talking about today? Well, as we are the stars of this podcast

0:21.1

because we're the only ones here. By default, we are the stars. Yeah, well, a little bit of

0:27.1

inspiration from some of our previous shows. We have been talking about director missing

0:31.2

pieces a lot last year. Then we moved into Danny Perry's cult movie stars where we

0:37.1

started filling in some of our missing

0:39.0

pieces of some of our favorite cult stars, but we hadn't talked about the big guns, the big

0:43.6

movie stars really much on the show except when they come up, you know, through their films.

0:48.6

And I was listening to an episode of The Big Picture where they were speculating about Tom

0:53.2

Cruz's career.

0:55.2

And it was kind of bummed me out because we are obviously in a sore lack of,

0:58.6

1:03.2

There's still a handful left, I would say.

1:05.9

And they were talking about Cruz in terms of Maverick.

1:08.4

And they were predicting that all we'll ever see

1:11.1

from here on to the end of his career is him playing the the maverick top gun character who I've already

1:17.3

forgotten and Mission Impossible's character for the rest of his career like he'll just keep playing

1:23.6

those two characters because it's safe because for whatever reason he's got burned on certain

1:28.9

periods. And then there was a line, a throwaway there like, oh, you know, I wish he would be making more

1:34.0

movies, you know, more Edge of Tomorrow's room. And it reminded me that I have a friend who's been telling

1:38.6

me for about 10 years to watch Edge of Tomorrow always telling me. You realize it's like the best modern, like, you know, sci-fi action movie.
