Nigeria is located in West Africa. It's the most populous country on the continent with over 200 million people.

And as you travel north through Nigeria, the land begins to change. It gets drier, more open. And above Nigeria is a country called Niger.

In Niger is the Sahara Desert. And within the Sahara is the Tenere Desert.

That's a name that riders recognize, even if they've never been anywhere near it. The old Paris

Dakar route crossed that terrain, Yamaha named the Tenoray motorcycle after it. And for many of us,

it represents this wild and remote place, you know, vast spaces, deep sand, real isolation.

Nassarou Ibrahim lives in Nigeria. He's an architect and a father of seven. He's a relatively new

adventure rider. And for his first long-distance motorcycle trip, he decided on something simple in

concept. He's going to ride his Yamaha Tenoray to the

Tenoray Desert. He'll need to cross into Niger, but the culture, even the language, is familiar to

him. On paper, it should be straightforward. But not long after crossing the border into Niger,

just as he's entering the arid section that leads to the desert

that he's been aiming for, a routine checkpoint in a small town turns into something else entirely.
