Summary

Hey there darlings, welcome back to the Roots and Refuge Podcast.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I invited my sweet friend Regan on for a deeply personal and honest conversation about motherhood—what it teaches us, how it changes us, and how it shapes the lives we’re building. Regan is a new mom, and I’m just about to watch my oldest son turn twenty. We’re in such different seasons, but we share a love for this calling and the sacred work it requires.

We talk about sacrifice and legacy, growing our families and ourselves, grief and hope, presence and responsibility. From baby challenges to homestead dreams, from sleepless nights to small victories, this conversation holds space for the beauty and hardship of being a mama in today’s world.

If you’ve been longing for some solidarity and reflection in your motherhood journey—whether you're brand new to it or decades in—I hope you’ll sit with us a while.  Also, if you’ve found encouragement here, consider supporting the podcast on Patreon, where you can listen early and join our monthly Q&A.

As always, I bless you until next time.

A little note: We had some minor audio hiccups while recording—I'm trying out new software to bring remote guests on more regularly—but I didn’t want to toss out such a meaningful conversation. Thanks for your grace as we grow.

Hey there, darlands, welcome back to the Roots and Refuge podcast. I have a full episode for you today

with my friend Reagan as we talk about motherhood and leading up to Mother's Day. I wanted to put a little note at the beginning of this

podcast. I thought that the conversation was very candid and really good and I didn't want to

0:28.7

toss it out, but there is just a touch of an issue with the audio in some places. I'm trying out a

new software right now to be able to bring in guests remotely.

I have a lot of great friends and voices in the homesteading and gardening world that I would

love to be able to bring conversations with them to you. But obviously, I'm still working out

0:49.2

the kinks. I wanted to go ahead and publish this, but I did want to say on the front end, I'm aware of

0:55.5

the issue, I'm working on it, and it won't happen again. Thank you for listening. Here's the episode.

Hey there, darlands. Welcome back to the Roots and Refuge podcast. I'm your host, Jessica Sauritz. My friends call me Jess, and I hope you will too. And here on my podcast, we talk about all things homesteading, growing food by growing gardens, raising animals, preserving, preparing, and enjoying that food, as well as just trying to live a little more mindfully in relationship with each other and with the

earth. Today I have a guest on the podcast. We're doing a little bit of a trial run to this point.

1:35.0

If you've ever heard a guest on my podcast, it was because they were sitting in person with me

1:40.7

recording a podcast. And I have lots of friends that live all over the place that do not

1:46.8

get to sit in person with me that I love for you to be able to hear from. So I've asked my friend

1:51.2

Reagan to come on today and we are trying something new. Reagan, would you say hi to my friends?

1:57.1

Yeah. Hi, guys. My name is Reagan. I'm in Virginia. So that's pretty far from you, Jess. And we're doing it. It's working. We're doing it. So Reagan, I guess I could say I met Reagan. She was a viewer of the channel. It's been some years ago. We connected. And we have since since hired her and she is the one who you can

2:22.4

think that you're even hearing this podcast because she is the one that does the back-in technical

2:27.4

stuff of getting our podcast up of getting our newsletter out and yeah and now I get to call her

2:33.9

my friend you know and get to call her my friend, you know, and get to, you know, spend time with
