Welcome to Court of Opinion. I'm Julia Cheney. Thank you for joining us this hour as we begin

in Utah. A man is standing trial for what prosecutors say was a family

murder plot that ended with seven gunshots and a father who never made it home. Defendant

Kevin Ellis is accused of conspiring with his mother and sister to kill his brother-in-law,

Matt Rustelli, and then staging the scene to make it look like self-defense. Now Ellis's sister, Catherine Rustelli, she was married to the victim and she staging the scene to make it look like self-defense. Now, Ellis's sister, Catherine Estelle, she was married to the victim,

and she is the first to plead guilty to her role in the murder.

She took the stand last week. She testified against her brother.

And today, the lead detective was the one in the hot seat.
