because they find out that the king is now after them.

By the way the chapter ends, there's 450 souls now, more than double what we saw at the beginning.

There seemed to be so many souls back in Nephi that will do anything

they can to return to Zairehamla. How they get there is the story of everything else that follows in these chapters

19 through 24. I'll go much faster through these chapters. The establishment of a

church under Alma's direction was so important that chapter 18 was deserving of some extra time.

Chapter 19 begins, however, with the Army of the King returning, tail between their legs, having been unsaid with the Army of the King returning, tail between their legs, having been unsuccessful at finding

Alma and his church.

And as was usually the case with Noah, his forces were small. Remember earlier he sent out guards but

there wasn't a sufficient number? And there now begins to be a division among

the remainder of his people. And that division in two turns into contention in three.

Now Gideon, who will come to know better later on, being a strong man and an enemy to the king,

he draws his sword, swears in his wrath to slay the king, and goes in pursuit of him.

V. King Noah runs straight to his tower and flees up it.

So ironic that this man runs himself into a corner where there is no means of escape.

I think that is such a fitting metaphor for the kind of lifestyle King Noah has lived

and chooses to continue living, trapped by his own sins and

sinfulness.

Gideon follows him up, doesn't take much of a military genius to pursue that path.
