Have you ever met a mercenary, a trained soldier for hire? More than meet one? I

baptized one on my mission and he was a fascinating man. I want to tell you a

little bit about his story today, but before I do, can I give you a challenge?

If you're anything like me, your time on YouTube is probably spent with one eye watching the

video you're on, and the other eye already looking ahead to some other video you're going to

watch in a second clicking back and forth and never really immersing ourselves

at any one thing. My challenge for you today is to stick with me to see if you can

watch this video from beginning to end.

I'll try not to make it painful.

My purpose is to invite you to spend some serious time

in a serious study of the Book of Mormon.

It was Esertaff Benson who said that a power will flow into our lives the moment we begin a serious study of the Book of Mormon. I think he was right to emphasize that word serious. If we want the power of this book, we have to

expend some power of our own. So my goal in filming these lessons is to go verse by

verse as much as possible. Trying to pull out principles whenever we can find them,

to get beyond the mere story line of scripture, to see the truths of God that have been

embedded within its stories.
