Hey, Deservant listeners. So on this podcast, when I am talking about a bad therapist, like a therapist who commits ethical violations or even legal violations, that therapist that I'm talking about is in the distant past and has already experienced the consequences of their actions. They've either lost their license or they've had

0:23.0

their license sanctioned in significant ways or they have been convicted of whatever crime they

0:30.2

committed. So it's usually in the past, or I am reporting on an anonymous therapist because I have been given a legal briefing or an ethics

0:42.7

brief from my malpractice insurance, and they don't include any of the names of the individuals

0:49.4

involved, the therapists or the clients.

0:52.5

So usually when I'm talking about an ethics case or a legal case for therapists, we don't

0:59.8

have to worry anymore about this person harming people in society.

1:06.1

But today's case is different.

1:09.2

The person I'm going to be reporting on is basically still seeing clients.

1:15.1

There has been no meaningful consequence to his professional life, seemingly. I don't know that for sure, but that's the way it looks.

1:24.8

I have looked at his website. I've looked at other places that I would see

1:30.4

evidence of an actual consequence and I can't see anything. So I'm going to be talking about him.

1:37.4

Now, all my information has been from reliable sources. There are two main article, two main news outlets that I am

1:48.3

pulling from, one being a very in-depth article from Rolling Stone magazine in 2022. They

1:57.6

actually, as journalists investigated this, they talked with clients, as journalists, investigated this.

2:01.7

They talked with clients, past clients.

2:04.7

They talked to the authorities.

2:07.2

So the Rolling Stone magazine article is my main source of information.

2:12.9

But also, there has been follow-up reporting in the Salt Lake Tribune and other similar local news outlets

2:21.7

in Utah, mainly in the year of 2003. So that's what I'm pulling from. But I'm also going to

2:30.3

be sprinkling in my own expertise as someone that not only practices as a therapist,

2:37.2

but also someone that teaches ethics and legal matters and has been hired by lawyers in situations
