Summary

There’s no question that Morgan DeBaun is an absolute force in the business world. Frustrated by the lack of media geared toward Black millennials, DeBaun, who was just 24 years old at the time, left her job at Intuit and set out to build a media company where she would be part of the target demographic. Alongside her co-founders, DeBaun has grown Blavity into a full-on media and tech empire, and today, her portfolio of brands reaches 250 million readers each month. In building Blavity, DeBaun raised $12 million from top venture capital firms, making her a part of the only 2% of women who receive venture funding in Silicon Valley. DeBaun also runs AfroTech, a networking conference and talent-acquisition solution that hosted 25k attendees last year. When DeBaun isn’t working on her own business, she’s consulting for massive global companies such as Pepsi and American Airlines.
