Hi, I'm Kelly McEvers, and this is Atlas Obscura.

So a couple weeks ago, we came out with an episode about the things that you, our listeners, like to collect.

And we got so many good responses that we decided we had to do another episode about it.

I've never really thought of myself as a it. I've never really thought of myself as a collector.

I mean, I've traveled all over the world, and so everywhere I go, I try to buy stuff.

Like, I buy lots of textiles.

I really love the textiles.

When I lived in the Middle East, I got furniture.

I was able to bring back a lot of furniture.

Like the dining room table that's actually in my backyard because I live in California

and you can do that is made out of these old shutters that they were taking off my apartment

And they were going to replace with new shutters, but these old

shutters were so beautiful, so I brought those home with me and, like, made a table out of it.

But I don't consider myself like a collector. The person who is a collector in my life, and I

still don't totally understand it, is my partner. He's the guy who's going to, like, collect pine cones and seashells and driftwood.
