Hi, this is Josh Marshall, and this is the Josh Marshall podcast with Kate Riga.

We have a bunch of things we're going to talk about today, mainly domestic politics,

but before that, I want to discuss briefly this really kind of surreal thing

that happened in Russia over the weekend with this mutiny.

I don't know whether I kind of don't know whether to say Wagner or Wagner,

you know, since it's Russian, and I guess I don't know if they default to the German pronunciation or whatever.

But in any case, a pretty wild stuff, and I've done a few posts about it,

so I just wanted to flag it, but it's really quite shocking,

but you know, there's a history of this as well.

It's one of the things that happens when countries get involved in major military

involvements.

Sometimes it ends up blowing back into their own state, right?

There's lots of examples of this in history, and you could even say at a very limited level,

it happened in the United States during the Vietnam War.

You had a sort of a rolling domestic crisis from the late 1960s through the early 1970s.

Some people even kind of classed the Watergate scandal and Nixon's resignation as part of that general crisis,

although by the time that Nixon resigned, or even by the time of Watergate,
