I'm John Bats with Bob Zimmerman, Behind the Black, and we're going to the moon looking for Bob.

We haven't talked about it for a long time.

Why not?

Where is it?

Well, that's because nothing much has happened for you two for a very, very long time.

And the Chinese haven't said anything for a very, very long time.

And this is kind of similar to what happened with the Gerong lunar Marsland. When things didn't work,

they just didn't believe it didn't exist anymore.

They didn't announce it was shut down.

And so here with U-2,

Lunar reconnaissance orbit, the American orbiter,

they've been taking pictures of it on a regular basis.

And what they announced this week is that since about March of 24, U22 has just not moved at all.

In fact, it had been moving less and less in the previous year.

They would take pictures to show how it moved.

Sometimes China would tell us something

that happened, but then suddenly they just stopped telling us anything. And beginning in March,

it just stopped moving entirely. Since China is silent about it, the suggestion is that the rover

is dead. It might be possible they could communicate with it, but they're not telling us.

They're just being silent.

It's a very Soviet-era-positive attitude, which is you never talk about failures until you fix them.
