This week, we're looking at various monsters you most definitely wouldn't want to run into at

night. Or during the day. Or at any time at all, really. Our first story is about a Japanese

student who is studying overseas and lives in an attic apartment. There's a subway down below

with an escalator that sometimes starts moving unexpectedly late at night.

Nobody ever appears to be on it, at least that he can see.

But when his friends come to visit one night, well, find out what happens in Mother and Child on the Escalator.

This story happened when I was an exchange student in Europe.

So, back when I couldn't really speak the language, I often invited my Japanese friends over to my place to hang out and drink.

I lived in an attic, and I could see the subway exit through the large round window I had.

There was an escalator that worked only for the exit, but the scary thing was that sometimes

it moved late at night for no reason. Being so late at night there

were no cars out, so when the escalator suddenly started with a loud, boom, it scared

the crap out of me. Sometimes I'd check out the round window to see what was going on, but there was

never anybody there. Well, this sort of thing happened every once in a while.

One weekend, I decided to invite a few friends over like usual, and I contacted the friend
