June, who are you, and what is your new book?

I am June Thomas.

I was the senior managing producer of Slate Podcasts.

I worked at Slate for 25 years.

Now, I guess, I am a person who writes books.

And my new book is called A Place of Our Own,

six spaces that shaped queer women's culture.

The six chapters are the lesbian bar,

feminist bookstores, the softball diamond, lesbian land, feminist sex toy stores, and queer

vacation destinations. So we're going to talk about some of those six spaces. It's all coming up

June, you have been pretty much involved in Slate Money for the best part of a decade in one way or another.

That's right.

And I'm very glad that you asked me to be on Slate Money Talks because I didn't know I was doing it at the time, but I think I

wrote a business book. Well, I think you wrote an anti-business book. Oh, well, yes, yes. Good point.
