| 0:00.0 | What is up? It is officially the first episode of 2020. You are listening to the very first episode also of Mondays with Matt and Jay. Hey guys. |
| 0:12.0 | That's all that's all Matt's going to say in this little intro. I guess that's my grand intro. I can get any music. |
| 0:17.0 | All right. Today we are talking about building your work around your life, not your life around your work and also giving you a little rundown of what these Mondays with Matt and Jay are going to look like. So let's dive in. |
| 0:29.0 | Sweet. Let's do it. |
| 0:34.0 | You're listening to She with Jordan Lee Dooley, a personal development podcast for the everyday woman. Come invited, leave ignited. Here's your host, Jordan Lee Dooley. |
| 0:48.0 | All right. Happy it's 2020. This is exciting. We're in a brand new decade. Oh my gosh. Yeah, we are. You just realized in a new year, new year, new decade, new me, new us, new month, new month, new everything. Everything's new. Scratch it all. Start over. |
| 1:14.0 | New resolutions. Yes. Oh, did you set any resolutions? I'm always trying to lose weight. It's a perpetual struggle. It's a perpetual resolution. It takes me two months to lose 20 pounds and I put it back on in 20 days. |
| 1:28.0 | I think that's everybody's struggle. I don't think the holidays are just timed really poorly because it's like as soon as I lose all this weight, it's like Thanksgiving, dreaming cash roll, turkey, stuffing. And then it's like, okay, I like crap. |
| 1:41.0 | Now I need to eat healthy. But then Christmas is literally a month later. And it's the same thing all over again. Christmas is like Thanksgiving light, I think when it comes to traditional meals. |
| 1:52.0 | Yeah, but then you throw in all the cookies. Yeah, I'm not really a sweet scat, though. That's true. That's true. But I don't understand because I am a sweet squirrel. So. And then after Christmas, you've got like a month gap where you can try and get healthy again. And then Valentine's Day is literally like six or seven weeks later. |
| 2:06.0 | Wait, because when is Valentine's Day a day that you can't be healthy? I'm confused. Chocolates. And you're not a sweet guy. |
| 2:13.0 | A dinner. Not like a week. I know, but it's like Valentine's Day dinner. If you don't do it right, you'll hate me for the next year. |
| 2:23.0 | Oh, whatever. But it's so funny because in the winter time, I don't want to eat greens. Like I love salads, but there's so many times where I just look at our box of spinach in the fridge. And I'm like, I want potatoes. |
| 2:36.0 | I want potatoes. I want something more minkosy. Okay. That needs to be any sweet t-shirt. |
| 2:41.0 | Spinach. No, I want potatoes. It's brilliant. Okay. Anyways, all right. So what were we going to talk about first? What are we diving into? We need to give a quick little, maybe like life update of what, how we kind of planned out 2020? Yeah. Yeah. |
| 3:01.0 | I know a lot of people are thinking like we just talked about new resolutions and everything like that. And so I think it would be good to talk about our planning day that we did last year towards the end of the year. Yes, that was so crucial. |
| 3:14.0 | First, I tried doing it alone. And then I realized this is very ineffective. I think we should do this with a team. We can't do it without me. |
| 3:22.0 | All right. So first what we did, I actually learned this from Amy Porterfield. She taught a really good workshop on planning for 2020. And it was geared toward business owners, but we found it to be really helpful when it comes to also planning your life. And one of the big tips and lessons that she taught was about setting up non-negotiables. |
| 3:41.0 | So that was a big part of what we talked about. Instead before putting anything on the calendar, projects wise, goals wise, trip wise, all those things, we actually said like what are our non-negotiables because it can be so easy to just kind of let life happen to you rather than kind of happen to life, if you will. |
| 3:56.0 | So we set up like four or five non-negotiables that we built our 2020 calendar around not only business calendar, but also kind of like our total work calendar, if you will. |
| 4:08.0 | Work life. Yeah. And we wanted it to we set up the non-negotiables so that life was the priority that and our health was the priority and our relationship was the priority that we built these other kind of projects and goals around. So. |
| 4:22.0 | Okay. I will start. Okay. The first one is no work on Sundays at all. Something we started doing at the end of last year was like enforcing on ourselves. |
