Governor Rick Schneider says he hopes a meeting of top US Michigan and Detroit officials

this week will help find a better way to revitalize the city as it moves through bankruptcy

proceedings. Schneider plans to participate in meetings this Friday in Detroit with Mayor

Dave Bing, state-appointed emergency manager Kevin Orr and aides to President Barack Obama.

The Washington contingent includes Attorney General Eric Holder, the housing secretary,

the transportation secretary, and an economic advisor speaking from the state Republican
