Tom, give us the latest on what's going on with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens because that's at a standstill.

How about a reminder of where things are at right now?

Well, the Ravens have been trying to get Lamar Jackson signed a long-term contract for over a year now,

close to two years.

They've not seen eye to eye on the structure of that contract with Lamar wanting it to be a fully

guaranteed deal.

The Ravens wanting it to be like every deal except for Deshawn Watson in recent NFL history.

Kirk Cousins arguably three years 84 million, but that was a shorter term type of a deal.

And so by putting the non-exclusive franchise tag on, Jackson, he is permitted to speak with the other 31 teams

and potentially sign an offer sheet, which the Ravens then could choose to either match or let him go for two first-round picks.

It is not as simple as saying, well, there's a former NFL MVP out there just sitting there.

Why doesn't everybody go and try to get them?

If you just go down the list of the 32 teams, and I've done this, you can easily cross off 20 of them because either they got a young quarterback they're going to pay, or they've got a lot of money tied up in a veteran quarterback. Then there's another half dozen or so where it's like probably not, doesn't really make a lot of sense at this point. So now you're down to like a half dozen teams. And maybe one of those teams signs Lamarro an offer sheet. What you've got to be willing to do if you're going to sign Lamarter to an offer sheet is give up the two first round picks
