Trey was looking really good in this first quarter and then he goes down with an injury and he gets picked up and you're like, all right, so Trey took a weird hit there. You're thinking it's his head. And then they bring the stretcher out and it's a moment where you're wondering, oh no. Mm-hmm. In comes Jimmy Garoppolo to Ross Dwelly, an old friend of his, and Dwelly reaches into the end

zone. Touchdown. Garoppolo getting love from his players and his teammates. Niners win by 20, but the big storyline is obviously what's going on at the quarterback spot. Jamie, take it away. Yeah, they're going to move forward. The 49ers are with Jimmy Garoppolo, and that is because of the tragic injury news for Tray Lance coming out of San Francisco. Yeah, and so much of what we talked about this offseason, Jamie, is about the 49ers and how they were going to trade Jimmy Garoppel and where the trade market was going to come from and how no one could take on that salary and then obviously the 49ers would have to release him. Instead, they did not. They reached a deal with Jimmy Garoppolo to keep him in the fold,

keep him as the backup and a reduced salary.

Being described to me as the ultimate insurance policy

when the 49ers hoped upon hope that they would not have to cash in on.

But that is exactly where they are.

Now, Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be the starting quarterback

for the 49ers going forward

because Trey Lance is now out for the season with a fractured ankle.
