Hey, guys, welcome back. We're in Genesis 34 today and kind of a dicey passage of

scripture, as you already know, Dinah has been the victim of rape by Shechem and dad knows

and the brothers know about it now and they've made

ostensibly this deal and the deal is okay we're going to let our families kind

of intermingle intermarry but in order to do so we need for your sons Haymore we

need for your sons to be circumcised. And we know that

circumcision is the physical sign of covenant blessing that God gave to Abraham. And so, you know,

from the standpoint of the Shechemites, they're thinking, oh, okay, this is kind of their religious

thing, we'll go along,

so many problems with that. But from the standpoint of the brothers of Dina, this is deceptive.

And we're going to find a little bit of a theme here because Jacob, of course, you know,

struggled with deception. And even though he's

kind of emerging from that, there's still some vestiges of that. We're going to see next chapter

that he deals with this more. So Jacob is emerging from that a bit. Remember, he wrestled with the

Lord at Penuel and all of that. But the brothers, the sons of Jacob, they're still kind of ensconced in it.

And we're going to find even more of this, aren't we?
