The president-elect named three more choices to guide the nation's health policies this weekend.

Marty McCarrie is a Johns Hopkins surgeon and Trump's pick to lead the Food and Drug Administration.

He's been among the FDA's most prominent critics, arguing that its response to the coronavirus pandemic was heavy-handed and bureaucratic.

Dave Weldon is Trump's choice to lead the CDC.

He has pushed debunked claims about vaccines and their safety.

And Jeanette Neshawat is a physician Trump has selected to be Surgeon General.

She's best known as a Fox News commentator.

If they're confirmed,

their boss would be Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a vaccine skeptic who Trump has tapped to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Trump's health picks lack experience in fighting

disease outbreaks. Their predecessors, including some from the first Trump administration,

warned that undermining vaccine confidence could impede a federal response during an emergency.

Number two. A deadly Israeli attack on Lebanon added to fears that the war is escalating. It was another violent weekend in Lebanon.

On Saturday, a massive Israeli airstrike demolished a residential building in central

Beirut. Local health authorities said the strike killed at least 29 people and wounded more than 60.

Israel did not say who the strike targeted.

Meanwhile, Israel intensified its invasion of southern Lebanon,

and the militant group Hezbollah continued to fire rockets and drones at northern Israel.

All of this has lowered hopes for an imminent ceasefire.

Just days after diplomatic talks had stirred hope that the conflict would end.
