| 0:00.8 | Welcome to Everyday Truth with Kurt Skelly. We believe the Bible is true and relevant to everyone, everywhere, every day. Today we join Kurt at one of the many biblical and historical sites in Greece. To fully experience these incredible sites, be sure to watch each day's video on YouTube. Now, let's see where Kurt is today. Three things I want to talk about. |
| 0:23.1 | First of all, I want to talk about pre-Ephesian |
| 0:26.6 | ministry. So the pre-Ephesian ministry. So as we learned on the bus, the third emphasis was ruled by, |
| 0:34.6 | founded by Lysamachus, one of the generals of Alexander the Great. |
| 0:41.2 | By the time Paul came here, this was a thriving, thriving city. |
| 0:46.3 | The five largest cities in the world, Ephesus was one of them. |
| 0:50.7 | And remember, Paul ministered in four of the five largest cities in the world. So this would be |
| 0:57.6 | on his radar screen. Paul would want to come here. Why? Because his philosophy was Jew first, |
| 1:05.4 | but then hub cities. So to go to population centers where the gospel had not been preached, so from that center, |

| 1:23.1 | churches of Asia Minor were founded because of the ministry emphasis, like all the churches in the Likas Valley, |
| 1:30.2 | Colosse and Hieropolis and Laidaeia, which are about 100 miles out that way. So, wow, what a place. |
| 1:37.7 | So Paul's on his second missionary journey. He is making his way a westward. He's with Silas and now Timothy. So going to hook up |
| 1:48.1 | with Luke at Troas. He has this great burden for the gospel. So he's looking at going into Pontus |
| 1:54.7 | and Phrygia and that whole region. The Holy Spirit says no. He says, okay, I want to go to Asia. |
| 2:01.1 | That would be the natural thing. |
| 2:02.8 | Go to Asia. |
| 2:03.8 | And the Holy Spirit said, no, you're not going to go there. |
| 2:07.0 | And remember, he kept on going westward until he hit the end of the road, Troas. |
| 2:11.0 | And that's where he received that great Macedonian call. |
| 2:14.4 | And I find it very interesting that when Paul went from Troas to Philippi, which is Europe, |
| 2:21.0 | the first European convert was Lydia. |
