Welcome back to today's episode of Everyday Truth.

We're in First Kings chapter 18.

And I want you to remember how the chapter began.

In fact, I want to go back there because it's been a couple episodes.

First Kings 18, 1.

It came to pass after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah in the third year, saying,

go show thyself unto Ahab, and I will send rain upon the earth. So this whole contest with the prophets of bail, the whole meeting with Ahab and remember Obadiah a couple episodes ago, all of this is in the

context of meet Ahab, I will send rain. So there's a whole lot more to that command of God

to Elijah than just meet Ahab, I will send rain. And what we've said is that Elijah would understand

exactly what that meant. Because the last time he met Ahab,

he said, there will be no rain. Now, this time he's meeting Ahab saying, there will be rain.

So what was last time? Last time was you're going to meet Ahab. And the reason there will be no

rain is because you have chosen a false God.
