I appreciate you joining us for today's episode of Everyday Truth as we delve into the dramatic

story of the Kings. We're talking about David, but really today we're talking about Solomon,

because we said goodbye to David last episode and David made that final speech to his son, Solomon. And now Solomon, young and dumb,

it's ready for the kingdom. Now, I say that facetiously, David recognized wisdom in Solomon already,

but Solomon does famously ask God for wisdom. We're not going to read about that right yet, but Solomon has a humble spirit, and it gets a great start.

But it's not how you start in life that matters.

It's how you finish.

And Saul got a great start, but he didn't finish well.

next couple of days of people that maybe got a good start, but didn't finish well. And how sad that is.

We are here in verse 12, where the Bible says, then sat Solomon upon the throne of David, his father, and his kingdom was

established greatly. That's kind of a marker verse because we're going to go into another

narrative here in a moment. But it's interesting that when the Bible describes the kingdom of Solomon at the beginning,

it was established greatly.

Nobody had a better start than Solomon had.
