Summary

Hosea 8:9-14 Deer hunters understand that a buck will make risky and dangerous choices when he is on the prowl for a doe. The “rut” season is the best time to hunt because the otherwise cautious deer will put himself in a vulnerable place. God likened the nation of Israel to a dumb donkey who ventured alone into a very dangerous place!

0:43.2	Welcome back, everybody. Appreciate you joining us today for our episode in Josea chapter number eight.
0:51.5	In fact, we're going to finish the chapter today.
0:55.2	Josea has 14 chapters, and some of them are really, really short. So we're not too far from
1:03.4	completing this book in the Old Testament. And one of those books that you don't really think
1:09.5	about. When you think about your Bible.
1:12.1	We think more about books like Exodus or Matthew or John or Psalms.
1:18.1	But all scripture is given by inspiration of God and it's profitable.
1:23.5	And these Old Testament prophets, these minor prophets that are often overlooked, what a great warning.
1:31.3	What a merciful God to include these stories in the Bible for our admonition.
1:41.3	When you read the Old Testament, you ought to think of this, keep this in mind,
1:48.1	that the story of the Old Testament is really just about one-third of the Old Testament books.
1:55.9	Somewhere between 11 to 13 of the books of the Old Testament tell the story of the Old Testament.
2:02.7	So if you want to just have a timeline, you see the story of the Old Testament in about
2:08.6	one third of the books.
2:10.7	And so then all the other books like the prophets and the wisdom literature and those books, they all fit in to those, that storyline.
