We'll start with an old dude, old sonny plumprey.

Yeah, he's from North Carolina.

He just had an interesting encounter with a black bear and it ended with him in a

fist fight with that bear.

What you looking at, bear?

You don't scare me.

Here's the story from WLOS-TV in North Carolina.

Yeah, that's right.

Sonny and Betty Pumphrey live in this rural part of Haywood County, the White Oak community.

They're both in their 70s.

I'm going to draw your attention down here to the surface of the driveway where you can see

some of the scratch marks left behind by the bear attack part of a harrowing experience.

It was a noon and Sonny Pumphrey just had a car lift installed in his driveway.

And I just had to look around and there's three bears right there beside me.

It was a mother bear, and her two cubs.

The cubs ran off, but not mama.

She's made a charge and dead run at me.

That sucker was, I mean, I balled, I balled at me.

Stunned, Sonny just reacted with reflex.

I hit a right dead on the point of the nose, the first shot.
